Terms and Conditions for BigIdeasDB

Welcome to BigIdeasDB!

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the BigIdeasDB website at https://bigideasdb.com ("Website") and the services provided by BigIdeasDB, including LaunchDB and BigIdeasDB Desktop. By using our Website and purchasing access, you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of BigIdeasDB

BigIdeasDB provides users with access to curated databases of real-world problems, product solutions, SaaS ideas, and pain points. BigIdeasDB offers paid memberships (Lite, Basic and Pro), available as one-time lifetime purchases, with Pro also available as a monthly subscription. BigIdeasDB also offers BigIdeasDB Desktop ("Desktop"), an app for Mac and Windows that you run on your own computer. Desktop is included with Basic and Pro, and can also be bought on its own as the Desktop add-on. Section 13 sets out the terms for Desktop.

2. Membership and Access

Upon purchasing a lifetime membership, users gain lifetime access to the databases and features specified in their chosen membership plan. Monthly subscriptions give access only while the subscription is active and paid. Details of each plan, including query limits and additional features, are available on the pricing page.

3. No Refund Policy

All purchases are final. BigIdeasDB does not offer refunds for any payment made under any circumstances. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Membership purchases (Lite, Basic, Pro, lifetime, or monthly subscriptions)
- The Desktop add-on and Desktop licences, including purchases made at any price
- The Export Add-on
- LaunchDB "Skip the Line" fees
- LaunchDB advertisement placements
- Any other paid services, features, or transactions

The Desktop add-on price starts at $9 and rises by $1 after each sale. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay. Because the price rises with each sale, earlier buyers are not entitled to any refund, credit or price difference.

If your access is ended or paused under these Terms, for example because a monthly subscription is cancelled or stops being paid (Section 13), or because of a chargeback or payment dispute (Section 11), that is not a refund event and no refund is owed.

The only exception to this policy is the BigIdeasDB Build Challenge, a voluntary promotional program described in Section 10. Any cashback issued under the Build Challenge is a discretionary reward for meeting the program's published criteria, not a refund, and does not change the final nature of any purchase.

Filing a chargeback or payment dispute does not change this policy. Our chargeback and payment dispute policy is set out in Section 11.

4. User Data and Privacy

We collect and store user data, including name, email, and payment information, necessary to provide our services. For details on data handling, please refer to our Privacy Policy at https://bigideasdb.com/privacy-policy.

5. Non-Personal Data Collection

We use web cookies to collect non-personal data to improve our services and enhance user experience.

6. Marketing Communications

By signing in to BigIdeasDB, you agree to receive newsletters, marketing emails, and promotional communications from us. You may opt out of these communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link provided in our emails.

7. Intellectual Property

The data and insights provided by BigIdeasDB are proprietary. Users are granted access to the data for personal and business use but are prohibited from reselling or redistributing any data obtained through BigIdeasDB.

8. LaunchDB Service

LaunchDB is a product launch platform available to Pro members. The following terms apply:

a) Product Launches
- Users may submit products for launch on LaunchDB
- All submissions are subject to review and approval
- BigIdeasDB reserves the right to reject or remove any launch at its sole discretion
- Launches enter a queue and are scheduled based on availability
- Launch dates are not guaranteed and may be subject to change

b) Skip the Line
- Users may pay a one-time fee to prioritize their launch scheduling
- Skip the Line fees are non-refundable regardless of launch outcome
- Prioritization does not guarantee a specific launch date
- BigIdeasDB reserves the right to modify Skip the Line pricing at any time

c) Advertisements
- Users may purchase advertisement placements on LaunchDB
- Ad placements are subject to availability and queue position
- Advertisement content must comply with our content guidelines
- BigIdeasDB reserves the right to reject, remove, or modify any advertisement
- Ad fees are non-refundable once the ad is scheduled or active
- Ad duration begins when the ad goes live, not when payment is made
- Queued ads will be activated automatically when slots become available

d) Upvotes and Engagement
- Users may not artificially inflate upvotes or engagement metrics
- Any attempt to manipulate rankings may result in launch removal and account suspension
- BigIdeasDB reserves the right to adjust or reset engagement metrics if manipulation is detected

e) Content Guidelines
- Submitted products and advertisements must not contain illegal, harmful, or misleading content
- Users are responsible for ensuring they have the right to promote the products they submit
- BigIdeasDB is not responsible for the products or services promoted on LaunchDB

9. Data Export Add-on

Users may purchase a one-time "Export Add-on" to unlock data export functionality (CSV, JSON) across the platform. The following terms apply:

a) The Export Add-on is a one-time purchase that grants export access for as long as the user maintains an active membership on BigIdeasDB.
b) Export access requires an active membership (Lite, Basic, Pro Monthly, Pro Yearly, or Pro Lifetime). If a user's membership expires or is canceled, export access is suspended until the membership is reactivated.
c) Pro Lifetime members have export access included in their membership and do not need to purchase the Export Add-on separately.
d) The Export Add-on purchase is non-refundable.
e) BigIdeasDB reserves the right to modify export formats, rate limits, or the scope of exportable data at any time.

10. BigIdeasDB Build Challenge

The BigIdeasDB Build Challenge is an optional promotional program that rewards paying members with cashback for building and growing a product based on an idea or pain point from BigIdeasDB. The following terms apply:

a) Eligibility. The Build Challenge is open to members on a paid plan (Lite, Basic, or Pro, whether lifetime or subscription). Free accounts are not eligible.

b) Reward tiers. A member may earn cashback by reaching one of the following verified milestones with a product clearly based on BigIdeasDB:
- Ship It: build and publicly launch a working product, for 25% cashback.
- First $1,000: the product reaches $1,000 in total verifiable revenue, for 50% cashback.
- $10,000: the product reaches $10,000 in total verifiable revenue, for 100% cashback.

c) Single, non-additive reward. A member may receive cashback for the single highest tier they reach. Rewards do not stack. Cashback is limited to one reward per member.

d) Discount and coupon exclusion. The 25% Ship It tier is not available on purchases made using any discount, coupon, or promotional code. The $1,000 and $10,000 revenue tiers remain available regardless of any discount used at purchase.

e) Calculation and payment. Cashback is calculated on the amount the member actually paid, excluding taxes and processing fees, and is returned to the member's original payment method.

f) Verification. The member must email proof of the qualifying milestone (a live product URL and, for the revenue tiers, evidence of real and verifiable revenue) to ompatel@om.bigideasdb.com. All submissions are reviewed manually. BigIdeasDB reserves the right to verify claims and to approve or deny any submission at its sole discretion to keep the program fair.

g) Modification. There is no deadline to qualify. BigIdeasDB reserves the right to modify, suspend, or end the Build Challenge at any time, except that submissions already approved will be honored.

11. Chargeback and Payment Dispute Policy

a) Contact us first. If you believe there is a billing issue, contact us at https://bigideasdb.com/contact or ompatel@om.bigideasdb.com before contacting your bank or card issuer, so we can investigate and resolve it. Most billing concerns are sorted out quickly once we can look at the account.

b) Evidence based resolution. If a chargeback or payment dispute is filed, BigIdeasDB will provide the card network, bank, or payment processor with evidence of the purchase and of delivery, including account creation and sign-in records, access logs, queries run, data viewed or exported, launches or advertisements delivered, and all related communications. If that evidence shows the purchase was made and that access was delivered consistent with these Terms, BigIdeasDB will dispute the chargeback.

c) Delivery is immediate. Access to BigIdeasDB is granted immediately upon payment. Once an account has been granted access, the service has been delivered. Not using the account, changing your mind, or being dissatisfied with the data is not a billing error and is not a valid basis for a dispute, given the no refund policy in Section 3.

d) Unwarranted chargebacks and the administrative fee. Countering an inappropriate dispute costs us real time and money. If a chargeback is initiated without first giving BigIdeasDB a reasonable opportunity to resolve the concern, or if a chargeback is decided in favor of BigIdeasDB, you agree to pay an administrative fee, plus all bank, card network, and processor fees we incur. Please be aware that this fee is charged automatically to the payment method on file, and you authorize BigIdeasDB and its payment processor to do so. The fee is compensation for the burden of gathering evidence, preparing a response, and countering a dispute that should not have been filed. It is not a penalty on a refund, since no refund is owed under Section 3.

e) Suspension of access. BigIdeasDB may suspend or terminate your account and revoke access, including lifetime access, while a chargeback is open or while any bank fees or administrative fees remain unpaid. Access may be restored once outstanding amounts are paid, at our discretion.

f) Collection. BigIdeasDB may engage a collection agency or pursue legal remedies to recover unpaid amounts, bank fees, administrative fees, and reasonable costs of collection.

g) Misrepresented disputes. Filing a dispute that misrepresents the facts of a purchase, for example claiming a transaction was unauthorized when it was made from your own account, is a breach of these Terms and may be reported to our payment processor and to the relevant authorities.

12. Reddit Connector and Reddit Tool Usage

a) How it works. The Reddit Connector and the hosted MCP Reddit tools are available to Pro members. The Reddit tools in the BigIdeasDB MCP (search_reddit, fetch_subreddit, fetch_post_comments and fetch_reddit_json) run through the optional Reddit Connector in the BigIdeasDB Clipper Chrome extension. When it is turned on, the connector fetches the reddit.com pages your AI client requests using your own browser and your own Reddit account. You are responsible for your Reddit account and for complying with Reddit's own terms and rules when you use it.

b) Reasonable use. Reddit tool access is intended for individual research at a normal pace. Automated bulk collection, mass downloading of subreddits or users, reselling or redistributing Reddit data, sharing your access with others, or any use that places excessive load on Reddit or on BigIdeasDB is not permitted.

c) Excessive use. BigIdeasDB monitors Reddit tool usage. If your usage is excessive, as determined by BigIdeasDB at its discretion (for example, request volume far above typical member usage, sustained automated querying, or usage that puts the connector or BigIdeasDB's relationships with third parties at risk), BigIdeasDB may, without refund: (i) throttle or limit your Reddit tool access; (ii) suspend or permanently remove your access to the Reddit tools, the Reddit Connector, or your BigIdeasDB account; and/or (iii) require additional charges for continued high-volume access. Additional charges will be communicated to you before they apply, and you may stop using the Reddit tools instead.

d) Your Reddit account. Reddit may rate limit, restrict or suspend Reddit accounts under its own policies. BigIdeasDB is not responsible for any action Reddit takes on your account. You can turn the Reddit Connector off at any time from the Reddit tab in Clipper, which stops all Reddit requests from your browser.

e) Availability. The Reddit tools depend on Reddit's website and on your browser being open and logged in. BigIdeasDB does not guarantee their availability, and Reddit tool interruptions caused by Reddit or by your browser are not grounds for a refund under Section 3.

13. BigIdeasDB Desktop

BigIdeasDB Desktop is an app for Mac and Windows that runs on your own computer. The following terms apply:

a) Purchase and price. Desktop is included with Basic and Pro memberships. It can also be bought on its own as the Desktop add-on, a one-time purchase. The add-on price starts at $9 and rises by $1 after each sale. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay. Desktop purchases are final under Section 3.

b) Licence. Your purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Desktop. You may not resell, rent, share or sublicense a Desktop licence or licence key, or use Desktop on behalf of people who have not bought it. You may not try to circumvent or tamper with the licence checks, the computer limit or any rate limit.

c) Computers. One account can activate Desktop on up to 3 computers. You can remove a computer from the Devices page on bigideasdb.com or deactivate it in the app to free a slot. A removed computer is signed out within 48 hours.

d) Licence refresh and offline use. Desktop checks your licence with bigideasdb.com when it starts and about every 12 hours while it is online. Each refresh gives a licence that lasts 48 hours. If Desktop cannot refresh for more than 48 hours, it locks until you reconnect. Your projects and data stay on your computer.

e) Monthly subscriptions. If you have Desktop through a Pro monthly subscription, your Desktop access ends when the subscription is cancelled, ends or stops being paid, because the licence stops refreshing. A subscription cancelled at the end of the billing period keeps access until that period ends. Lifetime members keep Desktop. If you bought the Desktop add-on separately, you keep it. Ending access in this way is not a refund event (Section 3).

f) Updates. Lifetime updates means updates to Desktop for as long as BigIdeasDB publishes them. It is not a promise of any future feature, of a release schedule, or that Desktop will be supported forever. Updates are downloaded from GitHub Releases.

g) Windows build. The Windows version of Desktop is not yet code-signed, so Windows may show a security warning when you install it. You install it at your own choice and risk.

h) Chargebacks and disputes. Section 11 applies to Desktop. BigIdeasDB may pause or revoke a Desktop licence while a chargeback or payment dispute is open, and may restore it if the dispute is decided in our favor.

i) Research runs from your own connection. Desktop runs on your computer. Its research requests go from your own internet connection and your own accounts to third-party sites and services, such as Reddit, the Apple App Store, Google Play, Google Trends and autocomplete, YouTube, Hacker News, Stack Exchange, GitHub, the Wayback Machine and app marketplaces. If you choose to turn on the review-site option in Clipper, pages from G2, Capterra and TrustRadius are fetched in your own browser. You are responsible for following those sites' terms and rules, for your accounts with them, and for any limit, block or suspension they apply to your accounts or IP address. BigIdeasDB is not responsible for actions taken by third-party sites.

j) Your own AI tools. Desktop works with AI tools you already have, such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and Ollama. Your use of those tools is under their providers' terms, usage limits and charges. BigIdeasDB provides no AI credits for Desktop, does not pay for your AI usage, and is not responsible for what your AI provider does with your prompts. AI clients you connect to Desktop through MCP can use Desktop's tools while Desktop is running, and you are responsible for the clients you connect.

k) Your data. Research data, projects and AI conversations are stored on your computer. BigIdeasDB does not receive them and cannot recover them. You are responsible for backing up your data. Removing a computer from your account, or losing access to Desktop, does not delete the files on that computer.

l) Estimates. Scores, estimates and ratings shown in Desktop, such as App Store volume and difficulty estimates, are estimates only. They are not guarantees of any result, ranking, revenue or business outcome. Third-party sources can change, throttle or block access without notice, so data may be incomplete or unavailable.

m) App Store Connect. If you choose to add App Store Connect keys, they are stored encrypted on your computer and sent only to Apple. Desktop makes changes to your App Store listing only when you confirm them. You are responsible for any change you confirm.

n) Clipper. The BigIdeasDB Clipper browser extension is available to Basic, Pro and Desktop add-on owners. The Reddit Connector and the hosted MCP Reddit tools in Section 12 remain available to Pro members only.

o) Labs features. Features marked Labs or Experimental may be incomplete, may break when third-party sites change, and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.

p) Suspension. BigIdeasDB may suspend or revoke a Desktop licence if you breach these Terms, including by sharing or reselling a licence, circumventing the licence or rate limits, or abusing third-party sites through Desktop. Section 12(c) and (d) also apply where relevant.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada.

15. Updates to the Terms

BigIdeasDB may update these Terms periodically. Users will be notified of significant changes via email.
