How to Create Product Requirements With AI Using BigIdeasDB's BuildGuide
BuildGuide's Stage 5 generates a Product Requirements Document scoped to 4 weeks of development. The AI uses your market research, competitor analysis, and audience data from previous stages to create requirements that are grounded in real demand.

Prerequisites: complete stages 1-4
The PRD stage requires data from the first four BuildGuide stages. The AI uses your validated idea (Stage 1), market research (Stage 2), competitive gaps (Stage 3), and audience insights (Stage 4) to generate requirements.
If you skip stages, the PRD will be generic. The more research you feed in, the more specific and actionable the requirements become.
How the AI generates requirements
In Stage 5, the AI proposes a feature set, user stories, and technical requirements based on everything you have researched. It prioritizes features by impact on your target user's core problem.
The PRD is scoped to 4 weeks of development — forcing prioritization. Features are categorized as must-have (MVP), should-have (v1.1), and nice-to-have (future). Only must-haves go in the 4-week scope.
- Must-have: features that solve the core problem (MVP scope)
- Should-have: features that improve the experience (v1.1)
- Nice-to-have: features that differentiate but are not essential (future)
- Technical requirements: stack suggestions, infrastructure, third-party services
Customizing your PRD
The AI-generated PRD is a starting point. Use the chat interface to refine requirements, add constraints, change priorities, or adjust the technical approach.
You can also paste in additional context — competitor screenshots, user feedback, or technical constraints — and the AI incorporates them into revised requirements.
FAQ
Can I use BuildGuide just for the PRD stage?
Technically yes, but the PRD quality depends heavily on the research from stages 1-4. Skipping earlier stages produces a generic document.
How detailed is the generated PRD?
The PRD includes user stories, feature descriptions, acceptance criteria, technical requirements, and a prioritized feature list scoped to 4 weeks. It is detailed enough to start building from.
Can I export the PRD?
Yes. PRD deliverables are saved in your BuildGuide journey and can be referenced from BuildHub for project management.
