Creating a project
A BuildHub project is the container for one body of work. Creating one takes a moment and drops you straight onto an infinite canvas where you begin adding and connecting nodes. Here is exactly how to do it.

Quick answer
Open BuildHub, create a new project, name it, and you land on a blank Infinity Canvas ready for your first nodes. You can start from a template or from scratch.
- Open BuildHub and create a new project.
- Name the project and open it.
- You land on a blank Infinity Canvas.
- Add your first Document, Table, Q&A, or Data View node.
Create your project
- 1
Open BuildHub
Go to BuildHub from your dashboard. Full capabilities require a Pro membership.
- 2
Create a new project
Choose to create a new project. Give it a clear name so it is easy to find later.
- 3
Start blank or from a template
Begin with an empty canvas, or start from a template to inherit a ready-made node layout.
- 4
Open the canvas
Opening the project drops you onto its Infinity Canvas, the infinite workspace where the project lives.
- 5
Add your first node
Add a Document, Table, Q&A, or Data View node to begin organizing the work.
Naming a project well
The project name is how you will find this work later, so make it specific. A name that describes the outcome - the product, the client, or the goal - beats a generic label once you have several projects. Because each project is its own self-contained canvas, the name is the main thing distinguishing one body of work from another in your dashboard.
One project per body of work
Keep a single project focused on one initiative. Separate initiatives deserve separate projects so each canvas stays legible rather than turning into a catch-all.
First moves on a new canvas
A blank canvas can feel open-ended. Drop one node to anchor the project - a Document describing the goal works well - then build out from there. Add the other pieces the work needs around it, and connect them as relationships become clear. Learn how to move around in The Infinity Canvas and what each node does in Node types.
Start from a template
If you want structure immediately, start the project from a template so the canvas arrives pre-populated with the nodes you would otherwise add by hand.
Frequently asked questions
Can I start a project from a template?
Yes. BuildHub includes a template system, so you can start a new project from a reusable layout instead of a blank canvas.
What happens right after I create a project?
Opening the project drops you onto its Infinity Canvas - an infinite, pannable workspace. From there you add your first Document, Table, Q&A, or Data View node to begin organizing the work.
Should I put everything in one project?
Keep one project focused on one body of work. Separate initiatives are easier to navigate as separate projects, each with its own canvas, so every canvas stays legible.
