Rate limits & supported clients
This page covers the two operational questions people ask most about the BigIdeasDB MCP: how many requests you get, and which AI clients can connect.
Last updated: July 9, 2026
Quick answer
The MCP allows 1,000 requests per day and 100 requests per minute. It works with any hosted-MCP-over-HTTP client, including Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code (GitHub Copilot), Codex, Windsurf, JetBrains AI, and Replit.
- 1,000 requests per day.
- 100 requests per minute.
- Works with any hosted-MCP-over-HTTP client.
Rate limits
- 1,000 requests per day.
- 100 requests per minute.
One prompt can be several requests
A single question in your client may trigger multiple tool calls, and each tool call counts against the limits. Batch related questions rather than firing many small prompts if you are near the ceiling.
Both limits apply per account and are shared across every client you connect. If you use Claude Desktop and Cursor with the same token, their combined traffic draws down the same daily and per-minute allowances.
Staying within the limits
The daily ceiling is generous for normal research, but heavy sessions with an agent that fans out many tool calls can add up quickly. A few habits keep you comfortable:
- Ask broad, specific questions so the client resolves them in fewer, larger tool calls rather than many small ones.
- Prefer a category analysis tool over dozens of individual keyword searches when you want an overview.
- Space out large agentic runs so you do not spike past 100 requests in a single minute.
Batch your research
If you are validating several niches, group the questions into one focused session per niche instead of scattering many one-off prompts. Fewer, richer prompts use fewer requests overall.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if I hit the rate limit?
Requests beyond 1,000 per day or 100 per minute are throttled until the window resets. Because one prompt can fan out into several tool calls, keep an eye on request volume during heavy research sessions.
My client is not on the list. Will it work?
If your client supports hosted MCP over HTTP, it will work. The listed clients are confirmed, but the server is a standard hosted HTTP MCP endpoint.
Are the rate limits per client or per account?
Per account. The 1,000-per-day and 100-per-minute limits are shared across every client connected with your token, so combined traffic from multiple clients draws down the same allowance.
