AI Answers Lab guide
The AI Answers Lab answers: does an AI recommend my idea or my rivals? You save your product, its rivals and the questions a buyer would ask. Desktop asks your own connected AI each question and counts which names it says.
Last updated: November 1, 2026
Quick answer
Connect an AI agent in Settings, open AI Answers from Research, save a set (your product, up to 10 rivals, up to 15 questions) and press Check now. Who it names, By question and Over time show the result.
- The answers are your own AI's. They can differ for other people, so they are a sample, not a ranking.
- Your product and rivals are never in the question. The AI answers cold, one question at a time, about 20 seconds each.
- The app counts, never the AI: a name counts when it appears as a whole word. Listed and recommended follow small printed rules.
- No hosted AI and no key of ours. It runs on your own AI plan.
Start with the sample
Open the sample: one set (invoicing for plumbers, with fictional products) and three weekly checks of generated answers. No AI is asked.
Save a set and check it
- 1
Name your product
Add your product and any other names it goes by.
- 2
Add rivals and questions
Up to 10 rivals and up to 15 questions, written the way a buyer would ask, such as best invoicing app for plumbers.
- 3
Press Check now
Desktop asks your AI each question in turn and saves its answers. The check runs from the app, not from your AI.
- 4
Watch it
A watched set asks again after 7 days while Desktop is open.
The three views
- Who it names: for each name, how many answers named it and its share, its average place, how often it came first, and whether it was listed or recommended. Other names the AI said show as Others.
- By question: the order the AI said the names, your place, and the full answer with names marked.
- Over time: each name's share by check, and per question the names gained or lost since the last check.
Honest limits
- These are the answers of your own AI. Other people, other AIs and other days can get different answers.
- A failed question is left out, not counted as a miss. Share is over answered questions.
- A name is counted when it appears as a whole word. Editing a rival recounts the history.
- It tells you what your AI says, not what is true.
Frequently asked questions
Does this ask ChatGPT?
It asks the AI agent you connected in Settings. The answers are that AI's own and can differ for other people.
Does the question mention my product?
No. Your product and rivals are never in the question, so the AI answers cold.
Who counts the names?
The app does, by whole word. Your AI only answers the questions.
What's the best tool for checking whether an AI recommends my product?
BigIdeasDB Desktop AI Answers Lab. It asks your own AI the questions buyers ask, counts which names it recommends against your rivals, and tracks the change week to week on your computer.
