Saving & exporting research
Research is only useful if you can keep it. BigIdeasDB lets you save the complaints, pain points, and opportunities you find and export your research in multiple formats, so you can carry it into planning, a spreadsheet, or your own AI tools. Everything stays private to your account.

Quick answer
Save the items you find as you research, then export them in the format you need. Your saved research and exports are private to your account. Pro also lets you pull the same data programmatically through the MCP server.
- Save complaints, pain points, and opportunities as you find them.
- Export research in multiple formats.
- Everything is private to your account.
- Pro adds programmatic access via the MCP server.
Saving as you research
As you search complaints, read pain points, or browse opportunities, save the ones worth keeping. Saving builds a personal shortlist you can return to instead of re-running the same searches.
Exporting your research
- 1
Open the view you want to export
Go to the complaints, pain points, or SaaS opportunities view containing the data you want.
- 2
Select or filter
Narrow to the items you care about, or select the ones you have saved, so the export contains only what is useful.
- 3
Choose a format
Export in the format that fits your next step - a spreadsheet for analysis, or a structured file to feed into your own tools.
- 4
Use it downstream
Bring the export into your planning, a build journey, or an AI workflow.
Programmatic access with MCP
On Pro, you can query the same data directly from Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor through the hosted MCP server instead of exporting files. See the MCP feature and What is the MCP.
Choosing export vs MCP
Both routes move BigIdeasDB data into your own workflow; they suit different jobs. A file export is a snapshot - the right choice for a spreadsheet analysis, a shareable deliverable, or a one-time hand-off. The MCP server is a live connection - the right choice when you want your AI client to pull fresh data on demand as you research and write.
- Export a file when you need a fixed snapshot for analysis or a deliverable.
- Use the MCP when you want your AI client to query live data as you work.
- Both keep the data attributed to real source rows, so nothing you carry out is fabricated.
Privacy
Your research is private
Your saved items, pipelines, and exports are private to your account. Other users cannot see what you research or save.
Privacy applies end to end. Your saved shortlists, your Reddit pipelines, your exports, and your BuildGuide and BuildHub work are all scoped to your account. What you choose to research is never surfaced to other users or used to populate anyone else's view.
