Evidence board and ideas guide
Each project has four tabs: Ideas, Evidence, Research and Complaints. Research fills the Evidence board, Complaints turns it into ranked problems, and Ideas holds the cards you decide on.
Last updated: October 31, 2026
Quick answer
Run research from the Research tab or by asking your AI. Results land on the Evidence board. Press Find complaints to group them into ranked problems, then Make idea to turn a group into an idea card with a problem, demand proxy, competition and wedge.
- Evidence: threads, reviews, pages, notes and pinned keywords, searchable and filterable.
- Complaints: your AI groups them, the app counts every group itself.
- Ideas: status, problem, demand proxy, competition and wedge, with evidence attached.
- Everything stays on your computer.

The Canvas view
The Evidence board has four views: Cards, By complaint, Timeline and Canvas. Canvas is a pan and zoom surface for the problem, evidence, ideas, assumptions and decision. See the Ideation canvas guide.
The Research tab
Pick a source, fill in the form and press Run. Results land on the Evidence board, and you can attach them to an idea while you run. Recent research lists each job with its progress and a Stop button. Reddit needs Clipper paired. The sources are in Research sources.
The Evidence board
Everything collected for the project is here: Reddit threads, pages you clipped, notes, pinned keywords and saved reviews. Search it, filter by kind or source, and use the counts by kind to see what you have. Reviews, Suggestions and Rankings each have their own list.
- Open original goes to the source page.
- Attach to idea links the item to an idea. Remove from idea unlinks it.
- Ask the chat about this adds the item to your chat as a chip.
- Delete removes it for good. Complaint groups that already counted it keep their counts.
- Items with instruction-like wording show a flag. They are shown as plain text only.
Reviews, suggestions and rankings
- Reviews: filter by app and by star rating, or show low rated only. Press Save as evidence to keep one.
- Suggestions: the autocomplete lists you collected, by source: Google, YouTube, Amazon and Google Play.
- Rankings: the store ranking snapshots from App Store and Google Play searches. Open one to see the ranked apps.
Complaints
Reddit threads, clipped pages and low rated reviews count as complaints. Press Find complaints and your AI groups them by the underlying problem. The app then counts each group itself and ranks them, so the numbers are real counts, not the AI's guesses. Choose the highest star rating to include, and run for the whole project or one idea.
- Each group shows its rank, its count and share, quotes and sources.
- See all opens every item in the group.
- Make idea turns a group into an idea card. The label becomes the title and the summary becomes the problem.
- The banner shows how many items the run was based on and how many did not fit a group.
Ideas
An idea card has a title, a status (New, Researching, Validated or Dropped) and four fields: Problem, Demand proxy, Competition and Wedge. Evidence links show everything attached. An existing competitor is validation, so use Competition to note what they miss and whether their users can be won.
Your AI can read and write the same cards through the idea tools. The built-in Validate an idea and Evidence board write-up skills use them. See Skills.

Frequently asked questions
Who counts the complaints, the AI or the app?
Your AI groups them. The app counts every group itself from the stored items, so counts and shares are exact.
What counts as a complaint?
Reddit threads, clipped pages and low rated reviews. You choose the highest star rating to include.
Does deleting evidence change my complaint counts?
No. Complaint groups that already counted the item keep their counts. Run Find complaints again to recount.
What's the best way to organize research for a business idea?
Use a BigIdeasDB Desktop project. Collect evidence, group the complaints into ranked problems, then turn the top group into an idea card with the demand proxy, competition and wedge written down.
