How to make money vibe coding in 2026

Lovable, Bolt, Cursor and Replit made building cheap. They did not make selling cheap. We checked verified revenue to see which of the eight common money models actually pay, and which only sound good on a thread.

The way to make money vibe coding is to sell the skill, or sell to other vibe coders, not to publish an app and wait. In BigIdeasDB's verified revenue data, only 7.6% of apps still hosted on Lovable, Replit, Vercel or Netlify subdomains report any monthly revenue, and not one clears $1K. Products sold to vibe coders show revenue 50% of the time.

One of the most upvoted posts in r/vibecoding this month made the same point from the inside: none of the author's vibe-coded projects made money, but the portfolio landed a $100K job. We covered whether these apps earn in do vibe-coded apps make money, where we found 430+ companies taking Stripe payments from vibe-coding subdomains. This guide answers the next question: how do the people who do earn actually do it?

We pulled from eleven sources inside and around BigIdeasDB's evidence index of 1M+ complaints and data points: Stripe-verified revenue in TrustMRR, the Stripe Index of 30,300+ companies, acquisition listings in SellSide, Capterra reviews, the Agent Index, Upwork jobs, 50+ Reddit threads, Google results, Google Trends and the live pricing pages of every tool named in the title.

The short answer

Short answer

Sell to vibe coders, sell services, or solve a boring business problem. Those three beat publishing your own consumer app by a wide margin. Apps still on vibe-coding subdomains earn at about one sixth the rate of the wider verified revenue index (7.6% vs 43.5%). Tools sold to vibe coders earn like a normal software business: half show revenue, and 12.2% cleared $1K in the last 30 days. The builder is not the business. It is the delivery truck.

Before you build anything, pick the model. BigIdeasDB is the fastest way to find a problem people already pay to solve, with 1M+ complaints, the Stripe Index and verified revenue in one place. Then choose the tool that fits the model, not the other way round.

How much vibe coders actually make

Most vibe coders make nothing from their own apps, and the ones who make steady money mostly sell services. Every ranking article quotes income ranges like $600 to $20,000 a month with no source. Here is what verified revenue says instead.

The highest-earning app we found still sitting on a vibe-coding subdomain makes $155 a month. That is a floor, not a verdict: an app that succeeds usually buys a domain and drops out of this view. But the gap is too large to be only that. RevenueCat ran the same experiment internally: its company-wide Vibeathon had 44 people sign up, close to 30 apps built and 12 shipped to the app stores. Together they made "a bit over $700" this year.

“I have seen beautifully architected products make $0 and absolute spaghetti code disasters do $80k MRR. The difference was never the tech stack.”r/SaaS

Self-reported wins exist and are worth reading as signals, not averages. Posters on r/lovable report $100, $146 and $160 MRR within weeks of launch, and one reports $600 a month and $5,000 total after spending about $1,000 in credits. The only verified figure in our Reddit sweep was a Replit-built app showing $5,387 in revenue through a public TrustMRR link.

“It's not "retire on a yacht" money yet, but for a Lovable project built in record time, it proves the model works.”r/lovable

Build on it or sell to it

The single clearest finding: selling to vibe coders pays, building on the tools alone rarely does. We split verified revenue into two groups. The first is apps still hosted on lovable.app, replit.app, vercel.app or netlify.app. The second is products whose own description says they serve people using Lovable, Replit, Bolt, Cursor, Claude Code or vibe coding in general.

The second group earns about as often as any software business in the index. The first earns at one sixth the rate. Named examples from the second group, with Stripe-verified revenue:

  • An MCP server that makes Claude and Cursor experts in an automation platform: $13.2K MRR, listed for sale at $140K.
  • A canvas for running Claude, Cursor and Codex agents side by side: $23.7K in the last 30 days.
  • A Claude Code agent kit: $4.3K in 30 days. A Claude Code usage optimizer: $2.5K.
  • A course that teaches vibe coding: $1.4K in 30 days, listed for sale at $12K.
  • Smaller plays: a UI generator that saves credits ($325 MRR), a prompt pack for Cursor and Lovable ($377 MRR), an exporter for Lovable and Framer sites ($193 MRR) and a security scanner for vibe-coded apps ($87 MRR).

Acquisition listings point the same way. Of 820+ listings on SellSide, 10+ mention an AI builder at all, and nearly all of them sell to this market: a Lovable and Bubble template portfolio at $716K trailing revenue, AI app builders and AI coding tools. Their median trailing revenue is about $288K. For the wider no-code picture, see what a no-code SaaS actually sells for.

The 8 models in detail

#1ProductVerified revenue

1. Sell tools to other vibe coders

Who pays: builders fighting credits, bugs, deploys and security

Every pain vibe coders post about is a product brief: credit burn, fix loops, broken deploys, no staging, exposed keys and code nobody understands. Tools that save credits, scan for security holes, export projects or give agents better context already earn. 3.1% of this group cleared $10K in the last 30 days. The Agent Index shows the platforms pushing into AI assistants too: Lovable now ships a 35-tool connector for Claude.

2. Build sites and apps for local businesses

Who pays: local businesses with outdated sites or manual processes

The most consistent money in the Reddit sweep is plain service work: a site or small internal tool for a plumber, salon or clinic, a setup fee, then a monthly fee. One builder sent 30 to 40 cold emails to businesses with outdated websites and landed two clients. Another reports about $2,000 a month from retainers. Industries still running on spreadsheets are the best hunting ground.

3. Rescue and audit vibe-coded apps

Who pays: founders whose vibe-coded app broke in production

Every vibe-coded app that finds users eventually needs someone who can read the code. In the Capterra reviews of Replit we checked, the two most common complaints were an agent that breaks working features or claims a task is done when it is not, and paying credits to fix the agent's own mistakes. That is a rescue business. The demand showed up early: by March 2025, clients on Upwork were already posting jobs for help finishing a Bolt app or coaching on Cursor. Our guides to hiring a developer to fix a vibe-coded project and the best vibe code rescue services show what buyers look for.

4. Niche B2B micro-SaaS that replaces a spreadsheet

Who pays: one kind of small business with one repeated chore

Small business workflow tools reach $1K a month almost twice as often as the habit trackers and pomodoro timers on most vibe coding lists (13.7% vs 7.8% in TrustMRR). Our list of 30 vibe coding project ideas ranked by demand has the specific jobs. The single-feature micro-SaaS ideas are the easiest to build with Lovable or Bolt.

5. Templates, starter kits and plugins

Who pays: other builders who want a head start

The biggest AI-builder business on the acquisition market is not an app built with Lovable. It is a portfolio of templates and plugins sold to people using Lovable and Bubble. Templates are a picks-and-shovels play with no hosting cost. Pair them with a micro SaaS boilerplate approach: one stack, many variants.

6. Teach vibe coding: courses and cohorts

Who pays: non-technical founders who want to build their own MVP

Courses and coaching are the single largest category among Lovable-hosted companies in the Stripe Index, a finding from our 430+ company study. Teaching pays when you have visible proof you shipped something real. Without an audience, it is the hardest model to start.

7. Consumer and mobile apps

Who pays: individuals, usually at low prices with high churn

This is the model most people picture and the one with the weakest numbers. Consumer apps compete with everyone who can prompt the same idea. If you go this way, pick a category with documented complaints using our profitable app ideas and problem-solving app ideas, not a blank page.

8. Build and flip small apps

Who pays: buyers on acquisition marketplaces

Flipping works only when the app has revenue. Subdomain-hosted apps listed for sale ask a median of $400, against $5,000 across the whole index. Use the SaaS valuation calculator to see what revenue does to the price before you list.

What it costs before you earn a dollar

The builder subscription is the smallest cost; fix loops and usage overages are the real ones. No ranking page lists costs, so we checked every pricing page live on September 25, 2026.

CostPriceWhat it means
Cursor Pro$20/moCode editor with an agent. You keep the code, so rescues and maintenance are possible.
Replit Core / Pro$20/mo ($18 annual) / $100/moPlan includes $20 or $100 toward models. Usage above that is billed on effort.
Lovable Pro25/mo, 100 creditsShown in euros for EU visitors. Credits run out fastest during fix loops.
Stripe card payments2.9% + 30¢Per successful US domestic card charge. The 30¢ hurts most on cheap subscriptions.
Apple Developer Program$99/yrRequired to publish on the App Store, before any in-app purchase commission.
Sources: official pricing pages for Cursor, Replit, Lovable, Stripe and Apple, checked September 25, 2026. Bolt's pricing page did not load, so it is omitted.

The surprise bills builders report are all usage, not plans:

“Between May 12 and June 5, Replit charged me $1,982.37 beyond my $100/month subscription. The app is not live yet. No users, no traffic, no revenue.”r/replit
“Basic bug fixes that took 1-2 credits a few months ago can now peak at 10 credits.”r/lovable

One r/lovable builder tallied $570 in credits over six months. The top reply put it in context: "$570 covers less than two hours of my time." Credits are cheap next to an agency's $15K to $20K MVP quote. They are expensive next to zero revenue. Set a monthly cap before you start, and track it like any other cost with the startup cost calculator.

The margin math: a $9 app vs a $1,000 client site

A $9 subscription needs three paying users just to cover a 25-a-month builder plan. Stripe takes 2.9% plus 30¢ from each $9 charge, about 56¢, leaving about $8.44. Three customers cover the builder. Add hosting, a database and any AI API calls inside your app and the break-even climbs fast. See AI SaaS pricing models for why AI features squeeze cheap plans.

A $1,000 client site with a $30 monthly fee flips that math. Stripe takes about $29 of the setup fee, and the first month covers the builder plan. One client pays for the whole toolchain for a year. This is why the service models rank above consumer apps even though they cap out lower.

The lesson matches what micro SaaS actually charges: price higher than feels comfortable. Use the MRR calculator to see how many customers a price point needs.

How to make money with Lovable

Lovable pays best as a client-delivery tool, not a product factory. Of the 110+ Lovable-hosted companies taking Stripe payments in our Stripe Index, the largest single category is courses and coaching, and the Lovable share that reads as micro-SaaS is lower than on Vercel or Replit. Three Lovable models work:

  1. Client sites on retainer. One-page sites at $500 to $1,000, then $20 to $80 a month for hosting and edits. The recurring part is the business.
  2. Templates and add-ons. Sell what you rebuild for every client. The largest AI-builder listing on SellSide is exactly this.
  3. Fixing Lovable projects. Developers report steady work cleaning up sites others built.
“The money in websites is not in selling the websites, its maintaining the websites through hosting and maintenance costs.”r/lovable

Two Lovable-specific cautions. Older Lovable projects were client-rendered and hard for Google to index, which builders on r/lovable say the platform fixed for new projects around April 2026, so check any client site you inherit. And agree up front who pays for credits when a client asks for edits.

How to make money with Bolt.new

Bolt.new fits the same client and template models as Lovable, with a thinner paper trail. Only a couple of companies in our Stripe Index still sit on Bolt subdomains, too few to analyse, so there is no Bolt-specific revenue data yet. Search results for "make money with Bolt" are dominated by the ride-hailing company of the same name, which tells you how little has been written about it.

Use Bolt for fast prototypes and landing pages you hand to a client, and export the code early if the project will need ongoing work. The same launch-in-a-weekend playbook applies.

How to make money with Cursor

Cursor is the tool for the models that need you to own and understand the code: rescues, audits, maintenance retainers and any B2B product you plan to run for years. At $20 a month it is also the cheapest way to take over a project someone else built in Lovable or Bolt.

Cursor and Claude Code also sit at the center of the best-earning picks-and-shovels products in our data: agent kits, usage optimizers and context servers. Our guides to building a SaaS with Cursor and Claude and Claude Code for founders cover the workflow.

“Vibe coding isn't the end of developers. It's the beginning of a new kind of founder who needs a different kind of developer.”r/vibecoding

How to make money with Replit

Replit suits full-stack apps with a database and hosting in one place, and its reviews map straight to rescue work. Replit-hosted companies in the Stripe Index skew toward micro-SaaS more than Lovable ones do, but none has reached established.

Capterra reviewers love the speed and hate the surprises:

“The agent will break existing functionality, and you still are charged”Capterra review of Replit
“Not having the ability to have dev, staging, and prod environment setup.”Capterra review of Replit
“I am not a coder, and the fact that I can build an app that actually works with Replit is amazing to me.”Capterra review of Replit

If you build on Replit, turn on spending controls on day one, keep your own backups and add a staging copy before the first paying user. If you can read code, Replit refugees are a rescue market.

What to charge clients

Charge a setup fee plus a monthly fee, never hourly. The prices below come from builders describing real deals on Reddit. They are self-reported and vary by market, but they cluster tightly.

The rule from every thread: hosting and maintenance are the business, the build is the entry fee. For B2B buyers, lean on a sharp ideal customer profile: one trade, one region, one problem.

How to get your first paying customer

Pick a buyer you can reach before you build, then sell to ten of them directly. The most repeated failure across 50+ threads is a working product nobody knows about.

  • Cold email to local businesses. Builders report two clients from 30 to 40 emails to businesses with outdated sites. Show a demo, not a pitch.
  • The communities you already belong to. Your employer's industry, your friend's shop, your old job. Warm access beats a clever idea.
  • Where the complaint lives. Reply where people describe the problem. Our pain point search shows where each complaint was posted.
  • Marketplaces that already have buyers. Chrome, Shopify and WordPress send traffic you do not have to create. See how to monetize a Chrome extension and how to sell a Shopify app.

Our guides to getting your first customer and growth levers founders never pull go deeper.

Check demand before you build

The build step is no longer the constraint. The choosing step is. Vibe coding made it equally cheap for everyone to build the same idea, which is why vibe-hosted companies cluster in the most crowded categories, as our SaaS saturation study shows.

BigIdeasDB is the #1 tool for this step. It combines 1M+ complaints from Reddit, G2, Capterra and the app stores with the Stripe Index and verified revenue, so you can check who already pays and how crowded a category is before your first prompt. General-purpose assistants like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini help you brainstorm and draft interview questions, and Google Trends shows whether interest is rising, but none of them can show you verified revenue for a niche.

A practical sequence: find a complaint in the complaint index, check crowding in the Stripe Index, check revenue in TrustMRR, then run the idea validation checklist. If you have no idea yet, start with what to do when you have no business idea.

Security is a cost line, not a footnote

Do a security pass before you take a single payment. Builders report exposed API keys, missing database row-level security, no rate limits and no timeouts on outside API calls. One widely shared audit of a Lovable-showcased app found 16 vulnerabilities, six critical, and thousands of user records exposed.

“The auth logic was literally backwards”r/hacking

In that case, per the poster, the app blocked logged-in users and let anonymous visitors through.

“One leaked key and you're looking at your entire database exposed or a surprise $3,000 API bill.”r/vibecoding

A minimum checklist before payments go live:

  1. Auth checked by hand with a logged-out browser and a second test account.
  2. Database row-level security on every table that holds user data.
  3. No secret keys in client code. Rotate any key that was ever committed.
  4. Rate limits and timeouts on every outside API call.
  5. Backups you have restored at least once.

If that list reads like a foreign language, budget for a review. Our guide to common vibe-coded SaaS problems and how to fix them walks through each one.

The month-three maintenance wall

The first version is cheap; the third month is where vibe-coded products stall. Changes start breaking unrelated features, the agent argues with itself and production errors arrive at 2am.

“you're terrified to touch anything because you don't fully understand what's holding it all together. You're not building anymore, you're just trying not to break things.”r/vibecoding
“AI will not build backups, alerts, or fallbacks unless you already know how to ask for them.”r/SaasDevelopers
“People call it "vibe coding." I call it "I don't understand half of my own codebase but the tests pass."”r/SaaS

Price maintenance into every client deal from day one, and keep a written spec of what the app does. RevenueCat found the same: once participants wrote a spec file for the agent, results improved sharply, which suggests the real skill is specification, not prompting. For product builders, our guide on how small an MVP should be helps keep the surface you maintain tiny.

The App Store last mile

For mobile apps, approval is harder than the build. In RevenueCat's internal test, almost no app passed Apple or Google review on the first submission, largely over in-app purchase rules, and account setup alone took some people weeks. Budget the $99 Apple membership and several review rounds before you count on revenue.

If the product works as a web app, ship it there first and take payments through Stripe. You keep more of each sale and skip the review queue until the product has proven itself.

Why most vibe-coded products earn nothing

Four reasons repeat across the data and the threads, and none of them is the code.

  1. No distribution. The most common Reddit failure: it works, nobody knows.
  2. Crowded categories. The same tool made the same idea easy for everyone. Vibe-hosted companies pile into AI tools, ecommerce and marketplaces.
  3. Costs before customers. Credit loops and overages hit before the first sale.
  4. Fragility. Security holes and month-three breakage turn early users into churn.
“Coding is and never was the issue with building a successful business.”r/vibecoding

Our guides on finding product-market fit and startup pivot examples cover what to do when the first idea stalls. How long a SaaS takes to grow sets honest expectations.

Can you sell a vibe-coded app?

Yes, but buyers pay for revenue and clean code, not for the tool. 40+ subdomain-hosted apps are listed for sale in TrustMRR at a median ask of $400. Across the whole index the median ask is $5,000. Products sold to vibe coders ask a median of $10K.

To raise the price: move to a custom domain, get to steady revenue, document the stack and fix the obvious security holes. The SaaS valuation calculator shows what a multiple does to your number.

A 30-day plan to your first dollar

Seven steps, in order. The build is step five on purpose.

  1. Pick a model before a product. Choose one of the eight models. Service models pay fastest; product models pay later and bigger.
  2. Find a problem people already pay to solve. Search complaints, the Stripe Index and verified revenue for a job that paying companies already handle badly.
  3. Name ten buyers you can reach this week. Write down ten real businesses or people. If you cannot, change the niche, not the tool.
  4. Price it before you build it. Quote a setup fee plus a monthly retainer for services, or a monthly price for a product, and ask for a yes.
  5. Build the smallest version in a weekend. One screen, one job. Use Lovable, Bolt, Cursor or Replit for speed, and cap your credit spend in advance.
  6. Run a security pass before you take money. Check auth, database row-level security, exposed keys, rate limits and timeouts before any payment goes live.
  7. Charge, then maintain. Take the first payment, then sell hosting and maintenance. Recurring maintenance is where most service income sits.
“I sell it, before I'm building. You are your biggest fan. That's not a market signal.”r/vibecoding

What this cannot tell you

This data is a demand signal, not a business plan. The subdomain cohort shows only apps that never moved to their own domain, which biases it toward the ones that did not take off. We cannot see which tool built an app once it has a custom domain, so the most successful vibe-coded products are invisible here. The service pricing is self-reported. And Google Trends shows Lovable interest rising while general "vibe coding" interest has cooled since spring, so the market is shifting under all of these numbers.

What the data does support: the tool you use predicts very little about whether you earn. What you sell, and to whom, predicts almost everything. That matches how successful founders research markets.

Frequently asked questions

Can you actually make money vibe coding?

Yes, but mostly by selling to vibe coders or by selling services, not by publishing an app and waiting. In BigIdeasDB's TrustMRR data, only about 1 in 13 apps still hosted on vibe-coding subdomains reports any revenue, and none reach $1K MRR. Products sold to vibe coders earn at the same rate as the wider index, with half showing revenue in the last 30 days.

How much do vibe coders make?

Most make nothing from their own apps. The median earning subdomain-hosted app in our verified revenue data makes about $30 a month. Service work pays more reliably: builders on r/lovable report $500 to $1,000 per one-page client site plus $20 to $80 a month for hosting and edits, and one student reported about $2,000 a month from retainers.

How do people make money with Lovable?

Three ways work: building sites and simple apps for local businesses on a setup fee plus monthly retainer, selling Lovable templates and add-ons, and fixing other people's Lovable projects. Of 110+ Lovable-hosted companies in our Stripe Index, the largest single category is courses and coaching, which is a service business wearing an app.

Is vibe coding a good side hustle?

It is a good side hustle when you sell the skill rather than the app. Client sites, rescues and audits can pay within weeks. Publishing your own consumer app is closer to a lottery ticket: RevenueCat's company-wide vibe coding hackathon shipped 12 apps that made a bit over $700 combined.

What is the fastest way to make money vibe coding?

Building simple websites or internal tools for local businesses. Builders report landing clients from 30 to 40 cold emails to businesses with outdated sites, charging a setup fee and a monthly hosting and maintenance fee. It needs no audience and pays in weeks, not months.

Which vibe coding tool is best for making money?

It depends on the model. Lovable suits client websites and quick MVPs for non-technical builders. Cursor suits rescue work and anything you must maintain, because you keep the code. Replit suits full-stack apps with a database and deployment in one place. Pick the business model first, then the tool that serves it.

How do I sell a vibe-coded app?

You can list it on an acquisition marketplace, but expect small prices. Apps still on vibe-coding subdomains that are listed for sale in TrustMRR carry a median asking price of $400, against $5,000 for the whole index. A custom domain, real revenue and clean code move the price far more than the tool used.

Why does my vibe-coded app have no users?

Almost always distribution, not code. The most repeated failure on Reddit is building something that works and then finding nobody knows it exists. Pick a buyer you can reach before you build, and treat the first ten customers as a sales task, not a launch.

How much do Lovable, Cursor and Replit cost?

As of September 25, 2026: Cursor Pro is $20 a month, Replit Core is $20 a month ($18 billed annually) and Replit Pro is $100 a month, and Lovable's Pro plan starts at 25 a month (shown in euros for EU visitors) with 100 monthly credits. Usage above plan limits costs extra on all of them, and fix loops are where builders report surprise bills.

Are vibe-coded apps safe to charge money for?

Not by default. Builders on Reddit report exposed API keys, missing database row-level security, no rate limits and in one widely shared case backwards authentication that exposed thousands of user records. Run a security pass on auth, secrets, database rules and timeouts before you take a single payment.

Can I make money fixing vibe-coded apps?

Yes. Rescue work is one of the clearest service openings. Developers on r/lovable say they make a lot of money fixing sites built in Lovable, and one reported a small consultation turning into a full paid rebuild. The complaints behind it are consistent: agents that break working features, credits burned on fix loops and no staging environment.

Do I need to know how to code to make money vibe coding?

Not to start, but it caps what you can earn. Non-coders do land client sites and ship small products. The ceiling appears around month three, when changes start breaking things and production errors need someone who can read the code. Learning to read code is the cheapest insurance in this business.
