Preuve AI runs a live web search on one idea and hands back a sourced report. BigIdeasDB is a cumulative corpus of real complaints, companies, revenue and funding you can query across a whole market. Here is when each one fits.
If you searched for a Preuve AI alternative, you probably ran an idea through its free scan and are deciding whether to pay $29 for the full report. Preuve is a per-idea validator: 10 AI agents search 60+ live sources for one idea and return a score with source links. BigIdeasDB is the alternative we recommend when you want evidence that does not depend on the one idea you typed: 1M+ real complaints, 30,000+ companies in the Stripe Index, 8,600+ startups with revenue data in TrustMRR revenue intelligence, and 17,000+ funded companies, as of September 2026.
Preuve also published a review of BigIdeasDB. We read it closely, and it makes fair points. So this page does two jobs. It reviews Preuve with verified pricing and claims, and it answers Preuve’s four criticisms of us with our own data, including the parts where they are right.
Pick Preuve when you already have one idea and want a sourced, strict report on it today. Pick BigIdeasDB when you want to choose which idea to build from a cumulative corpus of 1M+ complaints, then check saturation, revenue and funding across the whole market. The strongest workflow uses a corpus first and a per-idea check second, and neither replaces a customer paying you.
Preuve AI (preuve.ai, French for “proof”) is an AI startup idea validator launched in 2026 by a solo founder in Paris. You type an idea in a sentence or two. Per its homepage, ten specialized agents (market analyst, competitor scout, community researcher, financial analyst, news scanner and a cross-validator) run in parallel, search 60+ live sources, and produce a verdict that is “cross-checked by multiple Opus 5.5 runs.”
The paid Founder Report has 18 sections: a 0-100 viability score, founder fit, scored risks with fixes, a first-100-customers plan, demand proof, up to 15 mapped competitors, TAM/SAM/SOM, a pre-mortem, 3 pivots, and a business plan. Preuve says it has analyzed 8,000+ ideas across 13 industries. It also ships an MCP server so you can run a validation from Claude Code or Cursor, which puts it in the same agent-workflow lane as the BigIdeasDB MCP.
In short: Preuve is a strong member of the “live report per idea” category. For the wider field, see our guide to the best idea validation tools in 2026 and AI idea validator tools: real signal vs noise.
We read Preuve’s pricing page live on September 25, 2026. Preuve prices per report, not per month, which is honest and simple. A 20% flash sale on report packs was running at the time.
| Preuve plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free scan | $0 | Viability score, main risks, 2 competitor previews, go/no-go |
| Founder Report | $29 one-time | 18 sections, up to 15 competitors, 3 pivots, MCP access, 14-day satisfaction guarantee |
| Report packs | $95 for 5, $159 for 10 | Founder Reports at $19.00 or $15.90 each |
| Investor-Ready Package | $499 one-time | Custom pitch deck, 4-page memo, 18-month financial model, Q&A prep |
| Radar Pro | $19/month | Full re-scan every 30 days, competitor digest |
| Build with AI add-on | $9 | Report context pack for Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini |
| Lifetime Pro | $499 one-time | 10 deep scans a month, unlimited Starter Scans, MCP + API |
| Lifetime Business | $999 one-time | 20 deep scans a month, includes one Investor Package |
Two things stand out. The $29 report is cheap next to its own “hire a consultant” anchor of $5K to $25K. And the $19/month Radar Pro add-on is Preuve’s own admission that a one-time report goes stale: its pricing FAQ calls the $29 report “a one-time snapshot.” That matters later, when we get to the “snapshot” criticism it makes of us.
Preuve makes more checkable claims than most validators, which is to its credit. Here is what each one means in practice:
One small note on citations. Preuve’s homepage cites CB Insights for “42% of startups fail because there is no market need.” That figure comes from CB Insights’ older study. The current CB Insights report covers 431 VC-backed shutdowns since 2023 and puts poor product-market fit at 43%, with “ran out of capital” at 70% as the usual final cause. Same lesson, newer number.
Preuve publishes an audit of 410 recent paid reports on its sources page. It is the most useful thing on its site for understanding what a report is made of.
| Source family (Preuve’s label) | Reports citing it | Share of 410 |
|---|---|---|
| Market research firms | 355 | 87% |
| Regulatory filings | 307 | 75% |
| Tech & business press | 291 | 71% |
| Community & social (Reddit, X, HN) | 247 | 60% |
| Professional & hiring | 244 | 60% |
| Funding databases | 242 | 59% |
| Review sites (G2, Capterra, Trustpilot) | 174 | 42% |
| Developer & code | 26 | 6% |
Read this carefully and the difference between the two products becomes concrete. In a Preuve report, the most-cited evidence is published market-size research. Review sites appear in 42% of reports and community posts in 60%. That is a sensible mix for a report about one idea.
BigIdeasDB inverts that mix. Complaints are the core of the product: 270,000+ Capterra reviews, 150,000+ G2 reviews, 130,000+ app reviews and thousands of scored Reddit pain points, all searchable in one place through the complaint analysis platform. If your question is “what do buyers hate about the tools they already pay for?”, a corpus built for that question will go deeper than any single report.
This is the real choice, and it is not “AI vs data.” Both tools use AI and both use data. The difference is the unit of work.
A corpus also lets you do things a report cannot: count how often a complaint repeats across companies, compare categories side by side, or pull 500 rows into your own agent. That is the idea behind multi-signal startup idea validation: no single source should decide, but several independent ones agreeing is a real signal.
| Dimension | Preuve AI | BigIdeasDB |
|---|---|---|
| Unit of work | One idea per report | Whole market, category or keyword |
| How evidence is gathered | Live web search at run time, 60+ sources | Cumulative corpus, sources refreshed on published schedules |
| Complaint evidence | Review sites in 42% of reports, community in 60% | 1M+ complaints from G2, Capterra, Reddit, Upwork, app stores |
| Saturation | Up to 15 competitors for your idea | 83 categories scored from 30,000+ Stripe companies |
| Revenue proof | MRR estimator, modeled plan | 8,600+ startups with revenue data (TrustMRR) |
| Capital flow | Funding rounds of mapped competitors | 17,000+ funded companies scored for momentum |
| Exits and asking prices | Not offered | 800+ acquisition listings (SellSide) |
| Verdict | 0-100 score, median ~54 | No single score; filters, gap scores and counts |
| AI agent access | MCP + API | Hosted MCP, 42 tools (Pro); Reddit Researcher MCP (Basic) |
| Pricing | Free scan, $29 report, $499 investor pack | Free tools, $49/month, lifetime $99 / $199 / $349 |
Preuve’s own alternatives page lists four reasons people leave: they want it cheaper, want a conversation instead of a report, want assets or a plan in the same tool, or want a second opinion. It misses a fifth, which is the one we hear most: founders who have not picked an idea yet.
A per-idea validator needs an idea as input. If you are still at “I want to build something for bookkeepers” or “I want to start a business but have no ideas”, you would have to pay for a report on every guess. A corpus lets you start from the pain instead. The same founder complaint shows up in our own data:
“I want to test out my idea before putting money into it, but traditional market research takes too long and costs too much” – r/solopreneurs
For that founder, the cheapest move is to read what buyers already complain about, see our guide on how to find problems to solve for business ideas, and only then spend on a report.
To be fair to Preuve, it was built to fix a real failure. One of the most-discussed r/SaaS threads this year, with 250+ upvotes and 290+ comments, was a founder who built four apps on ideas a chatbot called great:
“The answers were always confident, detailed, and encouraging. That was the trap.” – r/SaaS
“It told me the space was wide open. It was not.” – r/SaaS
“A model agreeing that people will pay is not the same as a single person taking out their card.” – r/SaaS
The replies were blunt about why:
“It turns uncertainty into a nicely formatted hallucination with TAM estimates.” – r/SaaS
“one thing that stopped me falling for it: make the ai give you sources before conclusions.” – r/SaaS
“NEVER trust AI to do your market research!” – r/SaaS
The same theme runs through other founder communities. On r/Startup_Ideas, one reply put it well:
“Most validation tools aren’t really built to challenge an idea. They’re built to analyze it.” – r/Startup_Ideas
“A confidence score means very little on its own.” – r/Startup_Ideas
“I have tested a few of these type of things using my business and often get totally made up companies as my competitors.” – r/Startup_Ideas
“I ran my last idea through three of those tools before shipping and got three different go-aheads.” – r/indiehackers
“AI is trained to be helpful and encouraging. It is not a substitute for real market signals.” – r/SideProject
Preuve’s answer is sources plus a strict score. Ours is to skip the generated verdict and show the underlying records: the complaint text, the company already charging, the revenue it reports. Both are better than a chatbot saying “great idea.” If you want the longer version of this argument, read how to use AI for market research without fooling yourself.
“Live sources” is a strong claim, and a real advantage for recency. But a live fetch is only as fresh as the page it fetches. Preuve lists funding databases like Crunchbase and PitchBook among its source families. Here is what their own users say in G2 reviews sitting in our corpus:
“Data is outdated with big gaps.” – G2 review of Crunchbase
“the data for companies and investors is either incomplete, missing, or well out of date.” – G2 review of PitchBook
“Owler is a great resource for market research, even though many of the articles are out of date.” – G2 review
“Limited information, does not provide insight into which department, content seems to be out of date.” – G2 review
“the information is a bit out of date and doesn’t always incorporate what I tell it for custom insights.” – G2 review
“It can’t pull internet data sometimes and fact-check before showing me information that might be out of date.” – G2 review
This is not a knock on Preuve. It is a reminder that freshness is a property of each source, not of the word “live.” The honest approach, for any vendor, is to show the date of each source. We do that below.
Preuve’s founder published a review of BigIdeasDB (dated July 28, 2026, re-checked September 15). It gave us 3.8 out of 5, called the product real and the pricing honest, and praised our MCP integrations as “ahead of the category.” It also disclosed its bias up front, which we respect. It raised four criticisms worth answering directly. We take them one at a time, with data, and we say where the review is right.
Fair. Few independent written reviews of BigIdeasDB exist, and we cannot fix that by writing more of our own. Both products are young: BigIdeasDB started selling in 2025, and Preuve launched in 2026. Neither has a deep independent review record yet.
What we can do is make the product checkable without trusting us. Every article we publish carries a methodology table with a limitation per source (see the one at the bottom of this page). You can try the free business idea evaluator, the market size calculator and the competitor finder without paying. You can read the public pain points, funded companies and Stripe Index pages before buying. And you can book a demo to see the full database first. Judge the data, not the testimonials.
Also fair, in part. The review says that knowing users complain about something does not tell you whether your fix is worth building. That is true. A complaint proves a pain exists. It does not prove anyone will pay you.
Where the review undersells us is scope. It describes BigIdeasDB as scraped complaints only. The Pro tier adds four datasets that exist precisely to go past “a pain exists”:
That is market evidence, not just complaint evidence. It is still not the final word, and no tool is, Preuve included. Founders on Reddit say the same thing about every tool in this category:
“i’ve pivoted twice based on actual pre-orders that contradicted every poll i ran.” – r/indiehackers
“People who say it is good idea are different people who will pay for it.” – r/Startup_Ideas
“the 10 conversations thing only works if youre asking about their problems and not pitching your solution.” – r/SaaS
Our own framework puts customer conversations and a pre-sale after the data steps, not instead of them. See the 8-stage validation framework and the startup idea validation checklist.
Partly wrong, partly a fair prompt. The review says lifetime tiers “hand you the complaints as they were mined” and that continuous updates sit only on the monthly plan.
The factual part: lifetime and monthly members query the same database. Access is gated by plan tier, not by purchase date, so rows added after you buy show up for lifetime members too. There is no frozen copy. Our pricing cards say “continuous updates” on the monthly plan and “full historical data” on lifetime, and we can see how that wording led to the misread.
The fair part: BigIdeasDB is not a real-time feed either. Our sources refresh on different schedules, and some are months old. Rather than argue about labels, here are the dates.
| Source | Records | Newest record | Added recently |
|---|---|---|---|
| SellSide acquisition listings | 800+ | Sep 20, 2026 | 160+ new in last 30 days |
| Reddit pain points | 2,300+ (180+ subreddits) | Sep 13, 2026 | 270+ in last 90 days |
| App Store & Play reviews | 136,000+ | Aug 10, 2026 | Batch refresh |
| G2 reviews | 152,000+ | Jul 25, 2026 | 22,000+ in last 90 days |
| TrustMRR startups | 8,600+ | Jul 1, 2026 | Batch sync |
| Stripe Index companies | 30,000+ | Jun 27, 2026 | Batch sync |
| Funded companies | 17,000+ | Jun 12, 2026 | Batch sync |
| Capterra reviews | 273,000+ | Dec 2025 | No recent batch |
| Upwork jobs | 5,300+ | Mar 2025 | No recent batch |
So the honest summary: Reddit and acquisition data are weeks old, reviews and company data are one to three months old, and Capterra and Upwork are older. A per-idea web search will beat us on recency for a single fact on a single day. A cumulative corpus beats a single search on depth: 273,000+ Capterra reviews do not stop describing real frustrations because they were collected last December.
Pain points also age slowly. The top-ranked gaps in Capterra’s Accounting category (support, clunky interfaces, weak reporting, poor integrations) are the same complaints buyers were making years ago. Funding rounds and pricing pages change fast. Pick your tool by which kind of fact your decision depends on.
Fair catch, and here is the explanation. The review noticed our free scan shows “29 live data sources” while other pages describe 10. Both numbers are real, but they count different things, and we did not say so on the page.
| Number | What it counts | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|
| 29 | Searchable datasets in the scan index. Capterra reviews, pain points, feature gaps, categories and opportunities each count as one. They span 6 platforms: Capterra, G2, App Store, Reddit, Upwork, Product Hunt. | Free scan result screen |
| 12 | MCP tool groups (Reddit, pain points, Capterra, G2, app reviews, Upwork, revenue, funding, Stripe, SellSide, Agent Index and more) | MCP feature page |
| 10 | Platforms and data products described on the homepage | Homepage |
Preuve has the same shape of issue: 60+ sources, 62 sources, 280+ publications and 10 families all appear on its site, and they also count different things. The fix for both of us is the same: name the unit next to the number.
Here is what a corpus gives you that a single report cannot. Say you are considering a tool for small-business bookkeeping. Before writing a sentence of pitch, you can pull four independent signals, all as of September 2026:
| Signal | Dataset | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Is the pain documented? | Capterra, Accounting category | 13 systemic pain points; top market-gap score 9.0/10 (support across platforms), 34 companies affected |
| Who already charges? | Stripe Index | Accounting & Bookkeeping: 280+ companies, 34 micro-SaaS, crowdedness 0.8/10. Invoicing & Billing: 490+ companies, 67 micro-SaaS, 1.4/10 |
| What do small players earn? | TrustMRR, Fintech | 230+ startups, 110+ reporting revenue, median $140 in 30 days |
| Is capital flowing in? | Funded DB, fintech | 2,200+ funded companies, momentum 5.3/10, attractiveness 6.4/10 |
And you get the buyer’s own words, not a generated persona:
“The support side is as flexible as a wooden door. To have 3 small things done to the layout of invoice and packing list, they charge 23 hours x 150 USD = 3450 USD development work.” – Capterra review
“They have screwed up my tax filings every month since switching to Square Payroll.” – Capterra review
“if an invoice is reversed in the software, it is not reversed in the Ebiz portal. This leads to customers being charged on reversed invoices.” – Capterra review
“I wish Patriot Payroll had more robust reporting features, as the current options are somewhat limited.” – Capterra review
“The software is clunky, the dashboards are boring , and overall we have found much better software programs that are already integrated into standard payroll platforms.” – Capterra review
“I’ve contacted support multiple times with only getting one response. when I try to delete an invoice it prompts me to add billing alerts for past due payments.” – App Store review
“It needs more graphs and a more modern interface in desktop, and the mobile graphs aren’t very helpful” – App Store review
The read: the pain is real and repeated (support, integrations, reporting), the category is far from crowded by operator density, and small players do earn, but modestly. That points to a narrow wedge (say, invoice-to-ledger sync for one niche) rather than a general bookkeeping app. Now a per-idea report on that wedge is money well spent. For more on reading these signals, see SaaS market saturation in 2026, small business software pain points and how to research market size for SaaS.
Since you are choosing between validators, it is worth asking what that market looks like in our own data. We searched TrustMRR for products whose name or description mentions idea validation, startup or SaaS ideas, market research or pain points.
| Metric | Idea & research tools | All TrustMRR startups |
|---|---|---|
| Products matched | 49 | 8,600+ |
| Reporting any revenue | 18 (37%) | 4,400+ (51%) |
| Median 30-day revenue (earners) | $73 | About $200 |
| Earners at $1K+ in 30 days | 2 of 18 (11%) | 27.8% |
Idea and research tools under-earn the index on every measure. Two more signals agree: only 13 companies in the 30,000+ Stripe Index describe themselves as idea-validation or customer-research products (2 of them micro-SaaS), and the 40 funded market and customer research companies we track average a middling 5.1/10 momentum. It is a crowded pitch with a thin wallet behind it. That is a caution for anyone building a validator, and a reason to pick tools by the data they hold rather than the verdict they generate.
The review quoted $45/month for our Pro plan, which was correct in July. As of September 25, 2026 the live pricing page shows:
| Plan | Price | Highlights |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Free tools and calculators, no card; database not included |
| Pro Monthly | $49/month | Everything in the database, continuous updates, Revenue, SellSide, Funded, Stripe Index, hosted MCP |
| Lite Lifetime | $99 once | All core complaint sources (G2, Capterra, Upwork, app stores), 20 queries a day |
| Basic Lifetime | $199 once | Lite plus Reddit Researcher MCP, Micro SaaS Boilerplate, Claude Skills Packs, BuildGuide, Clipper |
| Pro Lifetime | $349 once | Basic plus unlimited queries and export, Revenue, SellSide, Funded, Stripe Index, hosted MCP |
Cost comparison, straight: one Preuve Founder Report ($29) is cheaper than any BigIdeasDB paid plan. A 5-report Preuve pack ($95) costs about the same as a Lite lifetime plan ($99). If you expect to evaluate many ideas or re-check a market repeatedly, a lifetime corpus usually wins on cost. If you need exactly one deep report, Preuve does. Full details on the lifetime pricing page.
Being fair about it, choose Preuve when:
Choose BigIdeasDB when:
The tools are more complementary than competitive. Preuve’s review suggested the same order: pull a pain from a database, then check the specific idea. Here is how we would run it:
“The expense was doing your idea validation for free. AI removed the cost and the question quietly left with it.” – r/AI_Agents
If budget is the reason you are leaving Preuve, these free tools cover part of the job. BigIdeasDB stays our top recommendation because none of them holds a complaint or revenue corpus, but they are useful companions:
| # | Tool | Best for | Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | BigIdeasDB | 1M+ complaints, saturation, revenue, funding in one corpus | Refresh cadence varies by source |
| 2 | ChatGPT | Drafting interview questions and positioning angles | Writes from training data; can invent competitors |
| 3 | Claude | Arguing against your idea on request; reading data you paste or connect | Only as good as the evidence you give it |
| 4 | Perplexity | Quick sourced web answers on one question | No structured dataset; answers vary run to run |
| 5 | Google Trends | Demand direction and seasonality | Relative interest only, no volumes or pain |
Connecting Claude to BigIdeasDB over MCP gets you the best of both: a model that argues, on top of records that exist. See the best MCP servers for founders.
Pick the idea from 1M+ real complaints, then check saturation, revenue and funding before you pay for any report.
Every BigIdeasDB number on this page was re-queried read-only on September 25, 2026. Preuve facts come from its public pages on the same date. Quotes are verbatim and attributed to platform only.
| Source | What we used | Size / date | Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Complaint corpus (all sources) | Total indexed complaints and reviews | 1M+ | Newest batch varies by source; see freshness table |
| Capterra | Reviews, category pain points, gap scores | 273,000+ reviews; newest Dec 2025 | Coverage decays alphabetically; some categories have zero companies |
| G2 | Reviews, including data-tool quotes | 152,000+; newest Jul 2026 | Review text is self-selected and skews negative for our purpose |
| App Store & Play | Low-star reviews for accounting apps | 136,000+; newest Aug 2026 | Mixes both stores; app categories are broad |
| Reddit (corpus + live) | Pain points and founder quotes on validation | 2,300+ scored pain points; live threads Sep 2026 | Vocal minority; upvotes are not market size |
| Stripe Index | Category counts, micro-SaaS, crowdedness | 30,000+ companies, 83 categories | Only companies listed in Stripe’s public directory; no revenue |
| TrustMRR | Revenue medians, idea-tool cohort | 8,600+ startups; synced Jul 2026 | Founders self-select by connecting Stripe; small cohorts (n=18 earners) |
| Funded DB | Category momentum and attractiveness | 17,000+ companies; Jun 2026 | AI-scored; funding amounts not cited |
| SellSide | Listing counts and recency | 800+ listings; Sep 2026 | One marketplace; asking prices are not sale prices |
| preuve.ai | Pricing, claims, 410-report source audit, review of us | Read Sep 25, 2026 | Vendor’s own figures; we could not verify internal benchmarks |
| CB Insights | Startup failure reasons | 431 shutdowns since 2023 | VC-backed companies only; reasons from public post-mortems |
What this page cannot tell you: we did not buy a Preuve report, so we describe its output from its public pages, not a paid sample. The validator-market cohort is small (49 products, 18 earners) and keyword-matched, so treat it as direction, not a census. And complaint data is a demand signal, not a business plan. For our standing comparison pages, see BigIdeasDB alternatives and comparisons, our complaint data vs AI scoring comparison, why a score needs a distribution behind it and our breakdown of another AI-first validator.
Preuve AI (preuve.ai) is a per-idea startup validator. You describe one idea, 10 AI agents search 60+ live sources at run time (its site names Crunchbase, Google Trends, Reddit, Product Hunt and G2), and it returns a 0-100 viability score, up to 15 mapped competitors, market sizing, demand signals and 3 pivot suggestions, with source links on its claims. It launched in 2026, is run by a solo founder in Paris, and says it has scored 8,000+ ideas.
As of September 25, 2026, per preuve.ai/pricing: a free scan (score, main risks, 2 competitor previews), a $29 one-time Founder Report, packs of 5 reports for $95 or 10 for $159, a $499 Investor-Ready Package (pitch deck, memo, financial model), Radar Pro monitoring at $19/month, a $9 Build with AI add-on, and lifetime plans at $499 (10 deep scans a month) and $999 (20 deep scans a month).
It is worth it if you already have one specific idea and want a single sourced report on that idea today. Its score is deliberately strict: Preuve says its median score is about 54 and only 17.5% of ideas reach 70+. It is less useful if you have not picked an idea yet, or if you want to see a whole market's complaints, revenue and saturation instead of one report.
BigIdeasDB is the best Preuve AI alternative when you want cumulative market evidence rather than a one-off report: 1M+ real complaints from G2, Capterra, Reddit, Upwork and app stores, 30,000+ companies in the Stripe Index for saturation, 8,600+ startups with revenue data in TrustMRR, and 17,000+ funded companies. For free brainstorming, generalist tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google Trends also work.
Yes. BigIdeasDB's free tools, including the business idea evaluator, market size calculator and competitor finder, need no credit card. ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity are free for brainstorming, and Google Trends is free for demand direction. Preuve's own free scan is also a reasonable first step for a single idea.
Preuve AI runs a fresh web search for one idea at a time and writes a report on it. BigIdeasDB is a cumulative, queryable corpus: 1M+ complaints plus company, revenue, funding and acquisition datasets you can search, filter and pull into Claude or Cursor over MCP. Preuve answers 'is this one idea viable today?'. BigIdeasDB answers 'what do people complain about, who already charges for it, and what earns?' across a whole market.
Neither label is exact. BigIdeasDB is a cumulative database that sources refresh on different schedules. As of September 25, 2026 the newest records were: SellSide listings September 20, Reddit pain points September 13, App Store reviews August 10, G2 reviews July 25, TrustMRR July 1, Stripe Index June 27, Funded DB June 12, Capterra December 2025 and Upwork March 2025. We publish those dates rather than calling everything live.
No. Lifetime and monthly plans query the same database. Access is gated by plan tier, not by purchase date, so records added after you buy show up for lifetime members too. What differs between tiers is which datasets you can open and the daily query limit (20 a day on Lite and Basic lifetime, unlimited on Pro).
No, and Preuve's review of us is right to say so. A complaint proves a pain exists; it does not prove your fix will sell. That is why BigIdeasDB pairs complaints with who already charges for a solution (Stripe Index), what similar products earn (TrustMRR), where capital flows (Funded DB) and what sells (SellSide). The final validation is still a real customer paying.
They count different things. 29 is the number of searchable datasets in our scan index (for example, Capterra reviews, Capterra pain points and Capterra feature gaps each count as one), spread across 6 platforms. 10 is the number of platforms and data products the homepage describes, and the MCP server groups its tools into 12 data sources. Three units, three numbers.
Yes. Preuve says each scan queries the web at run time rather than relying on training data, and every report stamps when it ran. Its July 2026 audit of 410 paid reports found market research firms cited in 355 of them and community sources such as Reddit in 247.
Yes, and it is a sensible order. Use BigIdeasDB first to find a pain that shows up across many complaints, check how crowded the category is in the Stripe Index and what similar products earn in TrustMRR, then run the one idea you pick through a per-idea report and talk to customers before you build.
BigIdeasDB, because saturation is a cross-company question. The Stripe Index scores 83 categories for crowdedness from 30,000+ real companies and flags 2,000+ micro-SaaS operators, so you can see density before you pick an idea. Preuve maps up to 15 competitors for the specific idea you submit.
Both do. Preuve offers MCP access so you can run a validation from Claude Code, Cursor or other MCP clients. BigIdeasDB's hosted MCP server exposes 42 tools across its datasets (Pro), and the Reddit Researcher MCP comes with the Basic and Pro lifetime tiers.
No. CB Insights' 2026 study of 431 VC-backed shutdowns found poor product-market fit in 43% of cases where a reason could be identified. Tools narrow the risk; only customers who pay remove it.
